What is a tooth prosthesis?
Dental prosthesis or dental prosthesis is an intraoral prosthesis that is used to repair (restore) the defects of missing teeth and the destruction of soft or hard structures of the jaw and palate. Prosthodontics is one of the specialties of dentistry that focuses on dental prostheses. Such prostheses are used for rehabilitation (chewing), improving aesthetics and speech. The dental prosthesis may be attached to the teeth or dental implants, by suction or by passive holding by the surrounding muscles.
